Why I switched to film photography

So, I decided to switch to film photography several weeks ago. There are 2 main reasons for this decisions:

First of all, I love taking photos. I have a Fujifilm mirrorless camera and a Pixel 3 XL — the best camera phone. These 2 devices helped me take lots of amazing photos before. However, I haven’t felt like taking photos with them recently. I hate the fact that I have too many options with my 2 digital cameras. For example, for each scene, I can take multiple photos and then pick the best one. But having that privilege makes me go easy on my photography, I didn’t feel the urge of shooting the best shot, because I could always do it the next times. And after getting too many photos for the same scene, I was too lazy to look at all of them and choose the one I like the most. I ended up hating my photos. I also don’t like the feeling of having the photos right on my phone and I could upload them on Instagram anytime. It feels like I was depending too much on social networks.

Second reason, I simply love the colors of photos taken by film cameras. I’ve been telling this to everyone: I love anything old and vintage.

After reading some reviews, I bought a used Nikon AF 600, which is 2 years younger than me (!!), together with some indate Fujicolor 100 and expired Konica film rolls. Let’s get started!

This photo was taken with a film roll that expired 12 years ago. It was sunny at 8am at Mac Ritchie Reservoir, and this result is really cool.
